Event Curation & venue management

We support venues to bring their spaces to life through driving event bookings and venue specific marketing services. Our collection of incredible venues, from a historic theatre, to a landmark vintage building to uniquely designed restaurants, showcase a number of iconic spaces in Calgary and beyond.

Supporting venues, vendors and event clients through our expertise and industry knowledge, we design, host and execute events of all sizes, weaving together incredible themes to inspire guests and enliven experiences.

Where we can help

We can take care of the entire process from event bookings, design, execution and follow up. With tailor-made unique strategies based on individual partner needs, we develop a plan to hone in on the specific aspects required to grow your event business.

First, we assess your current events and booking framework (if applicable), and will work with you to build the most fruitful strategy to make sure events can run seamlessly from beginning to end with little impact on your day-to-day business.

FOUR levels of partnership


Sales & Coordination

We promote your venue, do all sales and pre-event coordination and do a hand-off with your day-of event staff with all the event details. We would be onsite for the beginning of the event to make sure it goes smoothly and then leave it with venue staff. 

sales only

We take the client from inquiry to contract but hand off all client communication, coordination, day-of and post event wrap up to the venue.

referral only

The Commons will add your venue under its umbrella of available venues. We will market your venue on our website, in any promotional materials going out and in our initial client communication.

What could be next?

Turn Key Events

curated gatherings and events

One of our unique offerings is “Turn Key” events where we take care of all the planning, styling, coordination, vendor communication and set up/clean up for an all-inclusive price. Clients love this option as they get to leave the event planning to us and just get to show up and enjoy! Turn Key events are all-inclusive, customizable and provide many added benefits to both the venue and the event client. Using this option allows us to curate the details within the scope of the venue, with trusted vendors and staff - maintaining a higher caliber of service.

In the future we would love to explore the opportunity to co-host a variety of unique gatherings, bringing our communities together. We would love to co-develop other events together, focusing on the strengths and interests of each partner.

A small but mighty team.

we are passionate about bringing historic and iconic Calgary venues to life through curated design and inspiring events.


Siblings, Zach and Erynn Lyster are the co-owners of The Commons. Their team consists of inspiring event professionals, marketing experts, design whizzes and a collection of preferred vendors to creatively design and coordinate events in a variety of unique venues. Both Zach and Erynn were named as one of Avenue Magazine’s Top 40 under 40 in 2016.
